Cube Philosophy
So Mirrodin is one of my favourite blocks in magic, not only am I a huge fan of the ascetic and the story but it was also one of the first sets I really remember playing properly and not just using random card’s I picked up here and there.
As such, being older, I wanted to relive the experience of opening some packs and drafting a set that I never actually got to draft with! So over a few months I picked up a couple tournament packs of Mirrodin as well as 6 boosters of both Darksteel and Fifth Dawn, took them over to a mates (Who hadn’t started playing during the sets original release) and made an evening of drafting old packs and marvelling at incredible old cards.
Side note, the explosion of amazement when it came to opening the last pack of fifth dawn and we pulled a FOIL Mycosynth Golem!!!
And with that, I can relive the experience of playing a cube of my favourite set, with my own pack fresh cards.
I do have a few more tournament packs on the way I plan to open and add into the draft (Its nice to also use Mirrodin basic lands), plus I will probably expand on it later with some more boosters here and then.
Although its a block tube and realistically can be drafted as like any 8 person draft, my personal favourite is a smaller 4 person draft picking 2 per pack, it just allows you to curate a deck a bit better and its also much easier to get together with 3 other mates than 7!
But thats just personal preferance!
Enjoy the cube, I have already started to gather packs from Alara block to repeat the experience!
Open packs, have fun!
