Guilds of Ravnica (GRN) is a standalone 2018 set focused on five of Ravnica's guilds: Selesnya, Boros, Dimir, Izzet, and Golgari. The Limited environment is built around strong guild identities and rewards drafters who commit to synergistic game plans. Surveil helps Dimir control draws and fuel graveyard strategies, Jump-Start gives Izzet repeated access to spells, Undergrowth rewards Golgari for filling the graveyard, and Mentor enables Boros to pressure opponents with aggressive combat. Selesnya creates wide boards with Convoke and token production. The format is generally regarded as synergy-focused and relatively balanced, with successful decks emphasizing their guild's mechanic while taking advantage of Gates and other fixing when opportunities arise.
