Draft Oath of the Gatewatch

Oath of the Gatewatch (OGW) is the second set of the Battle for Zendikar block, released in 2016. Its draft format combines two Oath of the Gatewatch boosters with one Battle for Zendikar booster, creating a Limited environment centered on true colorless mana, Eldrazi synergies, Allies, and efficient creature combat. OGW introduced the colorless mana symbol, surge, support, and cohort, all of which significantly changed how Zendikar Limited played compared to triple Battle for Zendikar draft. Mana bases and colorless sources are especially important, as many of the strongest cards require access to true colorless mana. The format rewards synergy, but successful decks still need strong curves and efficient interaction. White-based aggressive decks and colorless-enabled value decks were among the defining strategies of the environment.
