Theros is the first set of the Theros block and introduced one of Magic's most enchantment-focused Limited environments. The format revolves around heroic creatures, bestow creatures that function as both threats and Auras, devotion payoffs, monstrosity mana sinks, and plentiful scry effects. Games tend to be creature-centric, with combat tricks and board development carrying more weight than hard removal. Bestow helps reduce the risk of traditional Aura strategies, while devotion rewards players for committing heavily to one color. The format is generally slower than many modern Limited environments, allowing expensive cards and late-game mana sinks to matter. Theros remains a popular set cube candidate because its mechanics overlap naturally and support a variety of synergistic decks without requiring strict archetype rails.
