Avacyn Restored (AVR) is the third set in the original Innistrad block, released in 2012. Unlike the graveyard-focused Limited environments that came before it, AVR is a more creature-centric draft format with relatively little removal and a heavy emphasis on board presence. Soulbond is the defining mechanic, rewarding players for building strong creature curves and creating powerful battlefield pairings. Miracle adds occasional explosive turns, while Undying returns on a smaller number of cards. The format is often compared to a Core Set draft environment because many successful decks rely on efficient creatures, tempo plays, and combat rather than intricate synergy engines. Green is generally regarded as one of the strongest colors, and Soulbond-based creature decks are a major part of the metagame.
