Magic 2013 is a single-set core set draft environment with a straightforward Limited structure and one major returning mechanic: exalted. The format rewards solid fundamentals—efficient creatures, removal, combat tricks, and clean mana—but it is not a modern ten-archetype gold-signpost set. Green is a major pillar, with strong creatures and useful interaction like Prey Upon, while black and white provide the main exalted shell. Red often plays best as a support color for pressure and burn, and blue decks lean more heavily on flyers, tempo, and higher-impact uncommons. For online draft or set cube play, M13 is best approached as a classic core set format where card quality, curve, and combat matter more than scripted synergy lanes.
