Draft Hour of Devastation

Hour of Devastation is the second set of the Amonkhet block, released as HOU. The set builds on Amonkhet’s graveyard themes while introducing eternalize, afflict, and a much stronger Desert-matters package. Exert, cycling, -1/-1 counters, and aftermath also remain important parts of the draft environment. Historically, Hour of Devastation was drafted as one Hour of Devastation pack with two Amonkhet packs, creating a deeper and more flexible Limited format than triple Amonkhet. Desert synergies, splashable bombs, and powerful late-game engines give drafters multiple viable paths, while aggressive exert decks remain competitive. Many players regard HOU-AKH-AKH as one of the stronger Limited formats of its era due to its balance between aggression, synergy, and long-game decision making.
