Magic 2015 (M15) is the 2014 core set release and was drafted as a standalone triple-M15 format. While core sets traditionally emphasize fundamentals, M15 features a surprisingly synergy-driven and aggressive Limited environment. Convoke returns as the set's signature mechanic, enabling powerful tempo swings and oversized threats ahead of schedule. Creature combat is central to the format, with proactive decks generally outperforming slower control strategies. The set supports several tribal and mechanical themes, including artifacts, sacrifice, lifegain, and convoke, while still rewarding strong fundamentals such as curve discipline, combat tricks, and efficient removal. Successful drafters balance synergy payoffs with solid creature-based gameplay, as many of the strongest decks rely on assembling complementary pieces rather than simply drafting the most powerful individual cards.
