Mirrodin Besieged (MBS) is the second set in the Scars of Mirrodin block, released in 2011. Its primary Limited format was MBS–SOM–SOM draft, with one pack of Mirrodin Besieged followed by two packs of Scars of Mirrodin. The set continues the conflict between Mirrans and Phyrexians, adding Battle Cry and Living Weapon while expanding existing themes such as Infect, Metalcraft, and Proliferate. Artifact density remains extremely high, making synergy and card interactions more important than color identity alone. Infect remains a distinct drafting lane that generally prefers not to mix with normal damage strategies, while Metalcraft decks seek to maximize artifact counts for powerful payoffs. The format rewards understanding when to commit to a synergy deck and when to prioritize efficient standalone cards.
