Draft Mirrodin online on CubeForge

Draft the original artifact world, where Equipment turns small creatures into threats and artifact lands fuel explosive Affinity decks.

Draft Mirrodin

Mirrodin (MRD) is the 306-card first set of the original Mirrodin block, released in October 2003. Its original Limited environment was MRD/MRD/MRD and is built around an unusually high density of artifacts. Affinity for artifacts rewards artifact lands, mana Myr, and cheap artifacts by reducing the cost of key blue and artifact spells. Equipment debuted here and makes even small creatures into serious threats, while Imprint gives artifacts abilities based on exiled cards and Entwine lets modal spells use both effects for an additional cost. Triple Mirrodin predates modern signpost archetypes, and contemporary draft writing describes several distinct color combinations rather than a fixed ten-pair cycle. Artifact removal is particularly valuable, while mana Myr and Talismans make splashes easier than in many sets of the era.

Archetypes

A quick reference for the main decks and strategies to look for while drafting this set cube.

White-Red Equipment Aggro

Curve out with efficient white creatures, attach Equipment to turn them into fast threats, and use red removal to maintain tempo.

Blue-Red Affinity Tempo

Combine artifact lands and cheap artifacts with Affinity creatures, evasive blue threats, Equipment, and red removal for a fast tempo plan.

Blue-Black Affinity

Maximize artifact count to reduce Affinity costs, then use efficient flyers and black removal or attrition tools to finish the game.

Red-Green Power

Lean on large efficient creatures, combat tricks, and the format’s deepest concentration of artifact destruction rather than a narrow synergy engine.

White-Blue Evasion

Build an aggressive flyers deck, either emphasizing white creatures plus Equipment or leaning blue to take greater advantage of Affinity.

Black-Red Removal

Prioritize black and red removal while maintaining enough creatures to pressure the opponent once their key threats are cleared.
